MAHAVEER GEARS UP FOR ZOLDER CHALLENGE

Chennai teenager is second in the championship

After earning podium finishes in every round he has competed in the Boss GP this season, emerging Indian racer Mahaveer Raghunathan has set his sights on top prize in the fourth round of the championship to be held at Zolder, Belgium this weekend. The 18-year-old Mahaveer representing Italian team Coloni Motorsport is currently second in the championship with 124 points. He is just 13 points behind championship leader Johann Ledermair of Austria.

Mahaveer says he’s looking forward to an exciting weekend in Zolder. “The third round was a disappointing outing for me. I had qualified third at Zandvoort (Netherlands) and could only settle for third place in both races. Though I secured my sixth podium of the season I was not very pleased with my showing. I should have qualified second. Only two-tenth of a second separated me and Florian (Schnitzenbaumer). I am hoping for a better performance this weekend.”

Championship Standings (top five, after three rounds)

1.       Johann Ledermair (Austria) 147 points
2.       Mahaveer Raghunathan (India) 124 points
3.       Salvatore De Plano (Italy)  112 points
4.       Florian Schnitzenbaumer (Germany)  90 points
5.       Henk de Boer (Netherlands) 54 points
